Brian LaVaque, District 1 Trustee
Brian LaVaque is running for Lombard Village Board Trustee in District 1. District 1 covers all of the northwest side of town from just south of the tracks and everywhere west of Main Street. While Brian grew up on the southwest side of Chicago, he has made his home in Lombard for over a decade. He and his wife Diana, who grew up in Lombard, have lived in District 1 for eight years, where they are raising their two children and attempting to raise two new puppies.
With a keen interest in how the local government worked, and looking for an opportunity to help out the community, Brian volunteered to work for the Village in 2014. He was appointed to the Lombard Economic and Development Committee, where he served for five years. While on the ECDC, Brian not only gained unique insight into how the Village is managed, but he was also able to bring his professional experience as an executive for a Fortune 500 foodservice company to bear on a number of development challenges Lombard was facing in a very competitive landscape.
Brian now wants to have the chance to bring his unique insights, personal experience, and creative new ideas to the Village Council to help build the future for the town he loves. He wants the Village to better leverage available resources to revitalize the downtown area, which would have a tremendous impact on the quality of daily life in District 1. Brian also wants to focus the Village on the neighborhood infrastructure improvement projects that District 1 residents so desperately want and deserve, while improving transparency across village government.
